Global GAP Certification

With the food safety and quality of agro food becoming an important trade issue in the overseas market, ABFS has started assisting farmers in obtaining the Global GAP Certification, so that they can have a better access to the European and US high-valued markets. The certification is an important international production standard for suppliers of agricultural produce and ABFS has helped Indian farmers in obtaining this certification from "FoodCert B.V.", a Holland based certification body.

Committed to safe and sustainable agriculture, ABFS conducts training programmes for the farmers to help them develop an auditable standard which promotes Good Agricultural Practices (GAP). The training programme creates awareness on Integrated Crop Management (ICM), Integrated Pest Control (IPC), Quality Management System (QMS), Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points (HACCP), Worker Health and Safety among the participants.

ABFS has approached Primary Marketing Organization (PMO) for certification which helps its member farmers to understand the Global GAP standards and implement them at the farm level. Besides assisting the farmers in acquiring international certification, ABFS helps them in post-harvest handling, grading and packaging. These facilities have helped farmers gain easy access to international markets.

The efforts of ABFS have helped over 200 farmers from Maharashtra to undergo the audit successfully, thus enabling them to gain access to the high value European markets, big super stores and chain stores across the world.

ISO 9001:2008 Certification

The challenges faced by Indian agriculture are immense today, since about two third of the work force is directly or indirectly dependant on agriculture. This sector needs to grow at a faster rate than in the past with increasing per capita income and consumption.

ABFS being primarily a service oriented business needs to have a foolproof system and a step-wise procedure to ensure premium quality at each level. The ISO 9001:2008 standard provides a tried and tested frame-work for taking a systematic approach in managing the processes so that they consistently deliver products and services that  satisfy the customer's expectations.

The ISO 9001:2008 certification for the Farm Advisory Services is in process and expected to be approved shortly.
